Mom’s Spaghetti

Ingredients

• 200g (about 7 oz) spaghetti (or any pasta you prefer)
• 2 cups marinara sauce
• 1 tablespoon olive oil
• 2 garlic cloves minced
• ½ teaspoon dried oregano or Italian seasoning
• Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
• Fresh basil or parsley, chopped optional for garnish
• Grated Parmesan cheese optional for serving

Directions

Cook the Spaghetti:

• Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil.
• Add the spaghetti and cook according to package instructions (usually 8-10 minutes) until al dente.
• Drain the pasta, reserving about 1/2 cup of pasta cooking water.

Prepare the Marinara Sauce:

• While the pasta is cooking, heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
• Add the minced garlic and sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant, but not browned.
• Pour in the marinara sauce, and stir in the oregano (or Italian seasoning).
• Season with salt and pepper to taste.
• Let the sauce simmer for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until heated through and slightly thickened. If the sauce gets too thick, add a little pasta water to thin it out.

Combine Pasta and Sauce:

• Add the drained spaghetti directly into the skillet with the marinara sauce.
• Toss the pasta in the sauce to coat it evenly. If the sauce is too thick, add a small splash of reserved pasta water until it reaches your desired consistency.

Serve:

• Serve hot, topped with chopped basil or parsley and a generous sprinkle of Parmesan cheese, if desired.
